As a public policy graduate student, I have always been fascinated by the intersection of public policy creation and its management or implementation. This summer, I had the opportunity to see these two worlds collide.

Public service is often talked about in big, abstract ways, but my summer internship in Senator Chris Murphy’s office in 2024 showed me what those ideas actually look like when they’re lived out day to day. Politics isn’t a distant, one‑dimensional world. It sits right at the intersection of people, communities, and the issues that shape their lives.
